felicia pride wrote an short essay about ladies first and she featured the song by Queen Latifah: Ladies First as a source to express her opinion on the ladies first issue. Mrs. Pride mentions an incident that made her think a lot about ladies first and at the time the song ladies first by queen latifah was being played on the radio. since the song had came out Felicia felt like the way she was feeling is now being stated through a song by a black female artist who eventually became a successful person in the music all because of ladies first.although the song was feminist it still made a point that many did not think of . this song made her become a strong woman and it made her think of ladies first.

Response to “Ladies First”
Ladies First is an out breaking song by Queen Latifah featuring Monie Love; Ladies First empowers woman to take control over their lives, and not to let anybody tell them what they can or not be. In the short essay “Ladies First” by Felicia Pride, Monie describes the song as a cry to promote “Unity and Skill among women.” (103) Women have a lot of power in society, but if women attack each other they would become weak as a whole; their influence over society would not be as strong as it can be. “Queen Latifah had the audacity to release a feminist hip-hop tribute.” and with it an inspirational song that invited women to be “women”.

Queen Latifah is like a synonym for independence; she motivates women to stand on their own and to forget about what society says women are supposed to be like. In her song, Ladies First, Queen says:
Grab the mic, look into the crowd and see smiles
Cause they see a woman standing up on her own two
Sloppy slouching is something I won’t do
Some think that we can’t flow
Stereotypes, they got to go.(“Ladies First Lyrics”)
Latifah takes a stand for women and sings to the world that stereotypes have to go; Queen Latifah never follows any of the stereotypes a black female Hip-hop artist usually follows. Queen inspires other women to be who they truly are, and to follow their dreams.

Queen Latifah and Monie Love emphasize the beauty and importance of being a woman through out their song Ladies First. Monie Love sings, “Like a mother, like a daughter, I would also like to mention…Have a job to do, we doing it. Respect due, to the mother who’s the rout of it” (“Ladies First Lyrics”) Monie talks about the different roles that a woman has to play through out her life; the song Ladies First reminds woman of all the different task and roles they are able of doing.

Ladies First Response

Ladies first is an amazing song by Queen Latifah featuring Monie Love. It made women realize that they have power and they are strong. As it said in the essay, “Gender shouldn’t stop anyone from following her (or his) heart.” (103). Nothing can stop us following our heart. I watched Ladies First video performing alive I don’t know where it is performed but Queen Latifah and Monie Love were taking over the audience. Women are very important people in our life, without women life would be hell.
Queen Latifah is the symbol of power and independence for women. In the song, Ladies first, Queen Latifah sings:
Who said the ladies couldn’t make it, you must be blind
If you don’t believe, well here, listen to this rhyme
Ladies first, there’s no time to rehearse
I’m divine and my mind expands throughout the universe
A female rapper with the message to send (Lyrics)
She expressed herself and she said what she has a message to say which is women are not powerless, they are strong and powerful. Queen Latifah is a very strong and successful woman of all time.
Ladies First is all about women and how they are important to the society. And in the song Monie Love sings:
“Believe me when I say being a woman is great, you see
I know all the fellas out there will agree with me
Not for being one but for being with one
Because when its time for loving its the woman that gets some
Strong, stepping, strutting, moving on
Rhyming, cutting, and not forgetting
We are the ones that give birth
To the new generation of prophets because its ladies first,”
I thinks that is true they are the ones who gives birth and take care of our new generations, so its got to be Ladies First.

Response to "Ladies First"

Queen Latifah wrote a song titled Ladies First which changed the hip-hop industry completely. The main idea of the song was to show that women had the power to achieve anything that they set their mind up for due to the fact that at the time women were seen as a joke in the hip-hop industry. Since the song motivated many women to come up in the music industry Felicia Pride decided to write an essay that talked about the power of women and how women are seen in society. She talked about how women had the power to control their lives and to become independent. Felicia Pride felt that Queen Latifah's song Ladies First was a perfect example of how women were suppose to act. Felicia Pride had a a lot of respect towards Queen Latifah because she felt that she was the perfect example of how women had to a present themselves.
