Bring your essays and questions about your writing and grades etc. to class. We will conduct the class like a workshop session, students can meet with me one-on-one for 10 minutes each minimally to talk about grades.
Homework was to bring in the essay outline, and an introduction and conclusion. Students can always keep reading. We're trying to finish up Guy in the next week and a day. Bring in any questions about Strunk and White as they come up.

Marc Bamuthi Joseph is performing an excerpt from a larger work opening next year based on Jeff Chang's Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The History of Hip Hop. I'm going tomorrow evening to the show.
Oh, MacBeth opens at the San Francisco Opera. I love MacBeth!

I didn't know where to post this because it is a week old, but here is my free-write response . It seems as if everyone wrote about the "God" poem, but I chose "What is it that I search 4" in Rose.

I found this particular poem by Tupac a bit vague in the sense that he doesn't know what he wants or expects in his fickle life. In the first stanza, he says that what he's searching for "is invisible 2 the eye." The entity that Tupac is searching for isn't tangible, but it seems to relate to an idea, concept, or more so, a belief. In "Holler If You Hear Me" by Michael Eric Dyson, I find the parallels between Tupac's spiritual beliefs and his conception of life (women, children, politics, etc.) amazingly correlates to his idea of searching for something he doesn't know is even there. Through the tribulations in his life, Tupac is able to find solidarity and solace even when he doesn't know he has. The idea of abstruseness is what Tupac searches for.

Chapter #4,Jasmine discussess about Power is the highest object of respect.
Jasmine is intrested about Afenie. Jasmine wants to know the kind of person Lumba is because, Jasmine wants to know the kind of person Afenie likes. Jasmine states that the Afenie family ,the Shakur's, were not only strong,but they were indipendant thinkers. Afenies first husband was Lumba.Lumba was everything to Afenie-her friend,Lover, and comrade.Jasmine states that, Lumba was a muslim, but he wanted to have sex,so Afenie asked to marry as soon as possible, because Afenie wanted a commited relationship. Afenie met Lumba and the Black Panters at the same time.Jasmine also states Afenie met Lumba and became apat of the family all in months. Afenie was always comfortable at parties she went,because of Lumba. Afenie stated saying no one messed with her the fact, Afenie was someone and also, Lumba was a respected well known man. Afenie was protected and respected, Lumba was involved dominantly with the rights of the Black inmates. Lumba followed Malcom X untill he died.Lumba was also well respected and known in prison,Lumba was in charge of organizing parties,in New York. The parties were always sucsessfull,because of Lumba.Also Lumba spoke out against racist systems. Jasmine states,during Lumbas youth, The gangs were diciplined like the Military and the armies.
