This is a college level tranfer course, the second in a series where we will examine the poetics of life lived on the ground...as in rough and tumble, as in America at war with herself. This is a world art alone makes sense of, an artist's work is a gift freely shared like air...sympathetic systems aligned, the the fictive or imaginary worlds of possiblity simply an inhale or exhale away. This class is an opportunity to close your eyes and believe.

The fear of not being able to do something stops me from doing the things that I might be able to do if I would just think that I am able to do it. I am standing at a bus stop waiting for something to pick me up. It is cold and I am hungry. My heart grumbles, mind complains, feet ask for mercy and by behind does the same. OMG. Still. I have procrastinated long enough and I don’t think of it as so. My mind tells me that the endeavor is impossible therefore warranted is a start that is slow. I am paralyzed. Afraid to look at the mail, afraid to pick up the phone, afraid to step foot in the office, open the door, press send, press stop, pres play, wake up, go to sleep, pray, fast, faster, live, love, laugh loudly, leave, listen… The fear is a cloud I exist in forever. There is no escape. I wish I weren’t in the sky and on the ground. I wish I could address fear a potentially lying bastard and not a priest. I wish that I could accept fear as a thief and not an inner pastor that has my best interests at heart. I wish I were not afraid to call fear a liar. I would but I am afraid. Fear. Fear. Fear. I am sorry dear. We have failed to meet, fail to continue, failed to go on, failed to move on, failed to talk, failed to listen because of fear. It’s a part of me like family. Inseparable. I wish that I would stop wishing and fight him. Approach his doorstep in the morning and bite him with every step that I take. “I am not a mistake, but I have mistaken you for the truth. I have listened and listened and listened to you.” I can, I can, I can, I can, I am, I am, I am, I am…it will be good, they won’t laugh, if they did it won’t kill, it won’t give me pain that is worthy of medical attention. I won’t have to lie in the bed receiving balloons and candy and get well soon cards. I can handle it. I can deal with the struggle. I am not stupid. I am not whack. Life, listen up, life, after 25 years, I am back.

Assignment: Response to Short film “Procrastination”
The first thing that comes to mind after watching the short film “Procrastination”, I came to realization based on the content of the film that everything in life that we do is an act of procrastination. It puts into perspective that our lives are based around the inevitable part of life which is death. Everyday that we wake up and go about our daily routine, we are virtually living to die. Some of us take the long road in doing it, and others take the short road. The film says to me that some people procrastinate more than others. I believe that procrastination is intentional. It is something that we all do to get to the next step. Regardless of what it is, until we reach the finish line (death), we are continuously on a road of procrastination until we reach the “end”.

Procrastination; I wonder why this film is brought to our attention today? The film clearly states what this persons definition of procrastination is but one thing that wasn’t mentioned was being busy, being overwhelmed with work, with writing assignments, studying for test, trying to get ahead in your other classes, while also trying to have a personal life, time for yourself. I would assume these aren’t in the film because these don’t fall under the definition of procrastination; there are only so few hours in the day to be productive, hell I don’t even have time to make a cup of tea. The film was said to be shown for “cautionary” and “intentional” reasons, reasons I don’t understand fully but hey it is what it is.

The short film Procrastination is an illustrated poem that talks about the everyday routine. It was interesting to see how words can transform into images, and how those images made you feel like you are part of the poem like if is you the one doing the things that the character is doing. The film seems to be making fun of what some of us do in our everyday life; all those things that we believe are important and required lots of our time. But in reality human being spend time doing lots of nothing; we do and do without thinking what we are doing or where we are going. The part that stood in my head it was the one where it says procrastination is doing eight things at the same time and not finishing one of them. I personally felt identified with that, I tough about all those times that I tried to do everything at the same time but never finish one task. After watching that film I am going to consider procrastination as a bad word, a word that I do not want to have in my vocabulary.

Freewrite: "Procrastination"
The short film "Procrastination" was a very creative and original film. It made me percieve the defenition and conception of procrastinating in a new light. From our everyday behaviors and actions it could be seem that almost everything we do involves procrastination. From arriving to class late, or taking an extra 10 minutes to get ready in the morning, or simply by just not taking care of business in the timely fashion we should. The graphics that where included in the film made me even more intrigued by it, not just by making me think about what it means to procrastinate. The narrorator did a very good job at voicing through the piece to catch the audiences attention. By the way t hat the film was directed it caught my interest and made me want to see other pieces of work by the artist.

Free write on Procrastination
The whole purpose on watching the small film called Procrastination is because many of us are falling behind in class. We have been keeping up with the assignments and the due dates. The teacher wants us to realize that we are just wasting our time coming to class unprepared. In the movie they define procrastination in many ways. According to the movie procrastination is when you don’t get things done. It means that you waste your time without completing anything in life. In the film they talk about many ways how people procrastinate, many people want to do many things at the same time that they cant complete one. Procrasination is not a good thing and if it becomes a habit you would never complete anything in life.
Although I was not actually present for the "Procrastination" film, I strongly believe that it is a habit that everyone struggles with. For many, procrastination can be lingering on the keyboard for a few seconds, while for others it can be waiting til the last hour to start an assignment. In any case, procrastination brings a lot of stress and problems to any situation. Things pile up and baggage gets heavier and heavier. What was once clear has now grown foggier and undecipherable in our eyes. People really need to understand the importance of doing their tasks at a timely matter despite their lack of enthusiasm for the boring deed.
With how busy life has become these days, procrastination is enevitable. Im constantly putting off for tomorrow, what i could be doing today. Its nothing to do with being lazy. Sometimes my mind just needs a break from tedious house cleaning, and redundant homework. My reason for procrastinating is not out of the fear of doing something. It is because i want to give myself some "me" time. Some time to just be myself and think. I choose to replace the work I need to get done with other time consuming activities, just avoid what ever it is I have to do. My mother has always been on my case for procrastinating. Of course she is a go-getter, who likes to tackle her tasks as they come at her. Me, I like to think about when I plan on getting things done. I sign up for school presentations and such on the last day possible. I guess you could say I like to take my time. So to my mother: Im not really a procrastinater, I just enjoy taking my time. This may not be an accurate statement, but to me being called a procrastinater can almost be derogatory. Unfortunatly I missed the film today so I can not reflect or relate to it. Just having to write about procrastination is making me concious of what I need to get done. Oh my.
In the film "Procrastination" it pointed out all the things that we do that is procrastination. The things that were mentionedas a sign of procrastination are some of the things we do on a daily basis like: washing dishes or making tea. The point is that all thesee thingswe do but never really actually finish. Procrastination in this film are activities that we start but never get a chance to finish it due to us starting something new which is actually true. Everyone starts something but sometimes never finish it because they begin to procastination with something or someone and it never getsfinished. The film also pointed out how we dont really neeed to be doing certain things we are doing but we do them any way just so that we can have something to do and we dont even realize that we are really procrasting.

Today in class we watched a film about procrastination, which is an action a person does when they are trying to avoid doing their work. The film showed all the typical actions people do when they are procrastinating, and also why someone might procrastinate. The main reason why they believe that people procrastinate is because either the people don’t know what they’re doing or they are just afraid of doing it. After watching this video I realize that I have done some of these actions while I was trying to do my paper. I didn’t realize that I was really procrastinating and the feeling of being lost and afraid of doing my work also pays a part. In general I understand why people might procrastinate cautionary or even intentionally. Some people might feel afraid to do their work because they are afraid of failing or people looking down on them for doing a bad job on their work. So because of that, people cautionary use procrastination. Also if a person finds a job or assignments that are either unpleasant or difficult, a person might procrastinate intentionally to avoid doing the work. But overall after watching to film I realize that procrastination an action usually run by ones emotion.

"Procrastination"
The definition of " Procrastination" is the deferment of actions or taks to a later time. I'm often myself procras to do alot of things, such as doing my homework. It's never quick for me to sit down and grab a pen and start doing my works. I'm often have to long on my laptop and browse internet for a while, and then go make some food then get a drink. After drinking and eating i would go to the bathroom. Finally i would sit down and get start on my works. All those preactivities took me rougly 30 mins before i get started on my homeworks. i think the purpose of this short film is to remind and caution the viewers things they do daily that can be consider procrastinating and also intentionally attact alot of activities that we do and never consider it as procrastinating but the matter of fact is they are. This film proved us how much time we are losing simply we aren't doing what we supposed to do instead of stalling or doing other unnecessary activities.

procastination: while people procrastinate all the time. is it because we are always busy doing daily routines. well what about people that is not doing nothing in their daily day.i know myself, i procrastinate all the time. i thought it was hereditary but everybody does it. i wish i can stop but everyday it seem as if im always busy from school to home taking care of my son to obstacles in my way.
If students are not procrastinating just overwhelmed with work and life, then perhaps one should reevaluate one's situation and make one's life easier. Drop a class, cut back on the extra-curricular--it's all a matter of prioritizing. One can't do everything, so one should figure out what is most important at this moment in time and do that. To put off thinking about this is procrastination--the world keeps moving, the assignments keep coming and the deadlines keep passing...if one doesn't stop and face this reality--which is, over extending oneself, then failure in everything.
Again procrastination is a reality in a fact-paced world; however, one doesn't have to procrastinate. One can plan to have tea, plan to have unscheduled time for oneself.
Just remember the only life you control is your own, so when your life overlaps another's what you need and what you get might be two different things, especially if you do not communicate.
I have given students deadlines and so far there are many students who have not turned in one paper and have not communicated with me. Some students just assume deadlines are flexible. Don't you realize that when you miss a deadline I could say no and that paper your wrote for all intents and purposes is an "F"?
I am pretty easy going, but I am not procrastinating and deadlines are deadlines and I have asked students to make an appointment to speak to me about assignments, etc. and only a few have.
One student told me Tuesday after asking me to fill out a progress report, "I have never had a class like this before." I told her to make an appointment to speak to me, today she is absent.
A number of your classmates are dealing with life and death situations, one student called crying about such this morning. We both agreed she should drop.
When students walk into class 1 hour and 10 minutes late and we are almost finished writing an essay, what does that say about prioritizing?
I am busy and yet I do not make excuses when I fall down on my commitment to this class. I try to be prepared and present with you in class and on the phone and at conferences.
Procrastination hit many of you in places that made you uncomfortable, this is good. Art is supposed to elicit strong often visceral responses.
Perhaps students affected thus, should face the mirror, stop putting off the issue and be honest with themselves about this class and about life.
Procrastination is almost an emotion I experience everyday. It is the impulse I give into without exploring its depth. A great example of procrastination is this free write I am partaking right now because I have been procrastinated on my class attendance as a second priority to the essays I have been focused on. I use to blame my tendency of this impulse on my lack of accountability on my foreseeable consequences. I actually do fear the act right before I decide to overcome my procrastination. I don’t know what exactly I fear, but it is some sore of ethereal idea of experiencing failure. To pinpoint it approximately would be to call it the same feeling of failure flipped 180 degrees would be the satisfying feeling procrastination offers me. I try to attack procrastination by focusing on what I am producing presently that builds on the goal, but that’s usually a pipe dream I work on.
I liked jermaines poetic reflection on procrastination. His use of similies is well thought out and cuts to the bone. The simile I liked the most was the comparison of procrastination as a religious emotion that justifies the act.

Procrastination
After watching the video I thought about myself because I procrastinate everyday. I never do my homework quickly I always procrastinate and take my time and I believe everybody does that. Humans are productive only for few hours of 24 hours. People seem busy but it seems like they procrastinate more than any other living thing. Everybody has a daily routine and someone makes other things that are not in their routine it seems to them that they did so many things. In the film it is so clear why people procrastinate.
