We interviewed each other today and then students introduced their peers to the class.
Homework is to bring in a draft of your papers. Everything is a draft, some you turn in because it's due, but for all intents and purposes, a writer can always see the work in a new light. The final draft can be posted with planning sheet, and outline by Friday at 12 noon. You can turn it in on Thursday, Sept. 25, but you will not be penalized if you turn it in the next day.
Please let me know if you are planning to attend the Beat Box event at La Pena on Thursday, Sept. 25. You can respond at the post or call me.

Faraj Fayad

I interviewed my class mate Ben H. and after asking him five guestions, I put all of his answers into one paragraph.
Some thing the class didnt know about Ben is that he is a big fan of soccer and and plays evey time he gets a chance. His favorite season is the summer because he feels like thats the best time to play soccer. This is his second semester attending the College of Alameda and plans to transfer to a four year Univercity. He is bilingual speaking English and Spanish because he was born in Mexico and was raised in the U.S. His favorite book is The Great Gatsby because it is a touching story.

I can't make the Beat Box thing tomorrow, although I would have loved to go.
Monik was born in Texas, and received her high school diploma from a school in Wichita Falls, although she did almost all of her high school classes here in California. This is her second time in college, and she's here to get her AA in buisness and administration. She can only read and write in English, but that doesn't stop her from reading great books. She really likes a book called "Married, but still looking" by Travis Hunter. Monik's favorite season is summer, she's pregnant, and she is 5'5".

A boy with jet black hair, gelled up in short, tight spikes. A brick red t-shirt with the character of muscle man and branded "powerlifting." His neck is matched up with a gold faced parrot necklace with a chain of yellow, green, black and red beads. This necklace has been with him since he came to the states for 4 years now.
His wrist is accompanied with a religious bracelet with many faces of the saints. He has worn this bracelet on and off for a total of 10 years and running. He sports a pair of faded out jeans with a black and white belt, along with a pair of brown nike shoes.

Eder is a fan and also a participant of soccer. He's been playingn soccer since he was 10 years old and was involved in the sport throughout his 4 years at Fremont High School. Currently, Eder isi working as a bartender 5 days a week at a Korean restaurant in Jack London. He knows how to write in both English and Spanish and also knows how to speak in Portuguese. He learned Spanish being originated from Mexico and learned English when he moved to the United States. He learned how to speak Portuguese because that is the language from his father's side. This is Eder's second semester at Alameda and so English 1B is not his first college course. His intention for taking this class is so he can earn enough credits to transfer into a nursing school. His favorite season? Winter because that's the month he was born in. His favorite book is "Child called it" which is an emotional story on the life of a kid. So yep, there you have it; Eder Aragon.

I interviewed Tamalia Jackson, who is 26 years old. I was really surpised to find out that she already has a degree in Health Science, as a medical assitant! From Bryman college, that is hard work, my mom went through that program. She even works on ships, doing manual labor as work! This is a girl who is not afraid to let her hands get dirty. She knows how to read and write in just one language, English. She is coming back to back, (COA) to complete another certificate for Radiology. She loves Fall because it is not too hot, nor is it too cold. A book that she just read that took her breathe away was called "Foverever a Hustlers wife" by Niki Turn.

I interviewed Deon Johnson in class and we were asked to ask five questions?
Something i did not knw about deon is that he left his parents at only 11 years of age. The reason for that was because his father had gotten kicked out of the millitary and his mother had to go to rehab. Deon speaks only english,but is planing to learn spanish. This is not his first semester he attended UC Davis in 2005-2006 and its now here at COA and plans to tranfer to UCLA.His favorite kind of season is the summer becasuse he doesnot have to worrie about what he is going to wear. And the last book that he read and loved is called so you call yourself a men by td Jacks.

I interview Dominique West, my Domi., and this is what came about:
1.Something I didn’t know about here was, she moved out of her moms at 14
2.She knows English and a few words in Spanish; which she describe as 1.5 of languages known
3.This isn’t her first college course and she wants to transfer to SJSU, where her brother attends, but I don’t think that have nothing to do with it…hahahaha :)
4.Winter is her favorite season, because of the holidays; she also thinks it pretty and peaceful during that time and she adds, “Can warm up w/a jacket or hugs!”
5.Waking with Enemies is the last book read, which I found out is the squeal to sleeping with strangers; they didn’t know was the movie Sleeping with Strangers, have anything to do with the book, but I was curious.
Domi. and I have a lot in common that we didn’t know about, and even though we been friends since last semesters, I found out a lot of things I didn’t know.

It is a very exciting and entertaining story about a gang of youths in the 1950's, which in turn deals with themes of violence and social inequality and social prejudice. This is a book Aaron strongly recomends

My class mate Jennifer Nguyen loves to dance, she also enjoys playing her favorite sport which is 'badminton' a popular asian sport. On the weekends Jenny helps her parents in their restaurant located in Oakland. She knows how to read in three different languages English, Vietnamise and
Spanish, but she does not feel comfortable writting in spanish. This is not her first college course because she already took classes in the summer session, she is completting her requirements to transfer to the University of Berkely, in the Biology Field. Her favorite season is Winter because it is Christmas time and also her friend comes to visit her. Her favorite book is called "WaterShip Down".
Kimberly Peterson is 23 years old she Owens her own house and works at starbucks. Cumber reads and writes in English. This is her 3rd semester at Alameda Collage, her goal is to become a Elementary teacher. Kimberly favorite season is summer, because it is chill and laid back. The most recent book she read is a beautify boy.
The person i was chosen to interview is John Rawson. He is 21 years old and around 6 foot 1, he attended all 3 high schools in alameda. Summer is his favorite season because it is warm and their is no school. Something you would not know about him is that he's a amatuer boxer but has not decided if he wants to go professional. His primary language is english, but he also can speak partial spanish. This is his second year at COA and he plans to transfer to a university and attain his business degree.

The person that I interviewed for this assignment is none other than Faraj Fayad. One thing that our teacher might not know about Faraj is his age. Faraj is 19 years of age. He is perfectly fluent in two languages English and Arabic. This is Faraj second semester at College of Alameda, and he plans to transfer to a four year University. One thing that I found very interesting about Faraj is that he doesn’t have one favorite season. He likes all the seasons because when one season is over he can’t wait for the other to start. A book that he has recently finished reading and took his breath away was “The Diary of Anne Frank”. The book is about the various experiences of people who survived the horrible and traumatic Holocaust. It was a pleasure interviewing Faraj because I didn’t really know a whole lot about him.
