Today in class students shared and developed plans for their individual and group projects. John Rawson shared his outline with his group: Faraj Farad Haseb Naweed. They will be looking at hip hop culture in England.
Jennifer, Loren, Eder and an absent Ronnie, will be looking at hip hop culture in France. Loren also submitted a plan for her essay, which will look at the lyrical context of certain artists. She speaks French and listens to hip hop music from France.
Aerin O'Leary, Ben, Kimberly, and Tammia had the most comprehensive plan. They even outlined who would present what and in what order. They are looking at hip hop in Brazil.
Wendy, Dominique and Deon are looking at hip hop in Venezuela.
Post your plans and outlines here. If you missed class. You're on your own, unless a group wants to adopt you :-)

My group is excited to be looking at the lyrical content, the themes, how women are depicted, and other aspects of culture from values and clothing in the geographic area of Venezuela, the country we chosen.
---- >Initial Planning Sheet< --
1.The subject of our papers will included religion and theover all culture, which is going to be covered by Wendy; female MC’s and how women are depicted, which is covered by me, Deon; the music, clothing, dance, which is covered by Dominique; and as a whole we will compare and contrast the music and its form from “America” style to theirs.
2.We chose to write about this subject because it was giving, a requirement, but we chose the country because it poses a challenge and none of us have been or have any connection to Venezuela, like we do with the others. Were so excited and know that were going to come with something HOTT!
3.We’re writing for the classmates, our peers, but also for Ms. Sabir.
4.We don’t have any one question that we want our research to answer; we just want to leave the reader and the audience knowing something new, that they didn’t know before. We want them to say dang I would have never thought of that, when they hear and read our paper and presentation; we want them to be impress!
5.The main writing strategies we will use are compare/contrast and were also using problem/solution. Just like “American” music, there might be some masculinity, misogyny, and homophobia in Venezuela and we want to purpose solutions.
If you are one of the students that need to be adopted, and you like what my group and I have planned so far, please lets us know, were welling to add hardworking peers to our group. There’s more than enough to go around.

Focus: Brazil as a global movement.
Our paper will introduce the orgins of Brazil in the intro. It will document how Hip Hop spread throughout the world focusing on Brazil. How the lyrical content, themes, styles are evident throughout the varios examples of music collected and studied. We will also look at how the topics relate or differ from that of the USA. How issues such as...homophobia, women, politics, global issues are seen/expressed.
So far our presentation will go in order of the essay and each person will talk about a song they have found and break down the lyrics to share with the class.

Our group is doing hip hop in France
Initial planning sheet-
1. Subject of our papers is:
jennifer-how hip hop artists portray themselves in mv's and in general; the "look" that they're casting to the audience.
Lauren-lyrical content, on what French artists include in their raps and songs.
Ronnie-The history of French hip hop
Eder-forms of dance in French hip hop
2. We chose this country because some of us is personally interested with this country and plan on living there someday. Others don't care as to which country is chosen.
3. Our audience is the class and professor Sabir.
4. Questions we would like to be answered along the way are:
-how did France have an effect in hip hop culture?
-What are some ways that France twisted hip hop to become their own?
-How does France inspire other countries hip hop wise?
5. The writing strategy that we are using for this particular project is compare and contrast between American and French ways.
